Lakewood Library Seeks Memories
The Lakewood Public Library is seeking memories from Lakewood residents and friends of the library as part of its major expansion. The library is currently undergoing a $16 million plan to renovate and expand the 90 year old facility from its current size of 55,000 square feet to 93,000 square feet. The project is expected to be completed in December 2007.
“We’re encouraging anyone who has fond memories of the library to jot them down and send them to the library as it celebrates its 90th anniversary,” said Lucy Sinagra, member of the Lakewood Public Library Foundation.
The Lakewood Public Library has played a critical role in the life of the community since its founding in May 1916. The newly expanded library, which was designed by renowned architect Robert Stern, will not only provide much needed additional space for the library’s collections and programs, it will provide the library with additional opportunities to serve the community.
In addition to filling out the form below, memories of the library should be sent to the Lakewood Public Library, 15425 Detroit Ave., Lakewood, Ohio 44107. For more information, call the Main Library at 216-226-8275 |
While the library's expansion will provide the means for us to move into the future, it also gives us opportunity to reflect upon the past. The memory project gives us a chance to recognize the significant impact the library has made on the hundreds of thousands of individuals who have benefited from its existence and who have contributed to its continued success.
