Lakewood
Public Library
Lakewood Public Library is an independent library. Our card is free and entitles you to check out and enjoy items from our collections of books, periodicals, cassettes, CD-ROMs, videos and DVDs. Items may be returned to either our Main or Madison Branch locations.
Cards are available to all residents of the State of Ohio. Applicants must present an acceptable form of identification to verify their name and address. A parent or guardian signature is required for children ages 14 and under.
The library reserves the right to refuse to issue a library card without identification and to restrict the borrowing privileges of a person with overdue materials or accumulated fines and charges.
Patrons may select a full-sized card or a key chain version. Please notify the library immediately if your card is lost or stolen, or if you have changed your address or phone number.
All circulating materials in the library are available for a 14-day loan period. The maximum number of items a patron may have on loan at any one time is 100. The library reserves that right to place circulation limits on newer collections.
Items may be renewed five times -- using your online account, in person or by telephone. Our 24-hour phone renewal is 216.226.8275, ext. 150. Items on reserve for another patron will not be renewed.
Reserves may be placed on any item. Patrons will be notified by mail when their reserves become available. Requests may be placed in person, by phone, or on our Web catalog. If an item is not part of our collection, we will try to obtain it for you.
A fine of $.05 per day is assessed for all overdue items. Borrowing privileges are suspended when accumulated fines exceed $10. After an item becomes 2 months overdue, a bill is sent to the patron and borrowing privileges are suspended until the account is cleared. Fees may also be charged for items returned damaged.
This service is offered to any patron unable to get to the library, whether permanently or temporarily homebound. Delivery/pickup time is Tuesday afternoon between 1:00 and 4:00. Phone your requests to the Customer Service Desk at 216.226.8275, ext. 120 before Noon on Tuesday and we will do our best to meet your needs.
Teachers who teach or reside in Lakewood may have classroom materials delivered to their Lakewood school or Lakewood home. Teacher Loan Cards are available at the Main Library or Madison Circulation Desks. Thursday afternoon delivery or pick-up requests may be made by calling 216.226.8275, ext. 140.
