Barton Community Center Singers
If you love to sing, join this group Wednesday mornings in the Faulhaber
Auditorium. You don't have to read music! Song sheets are provided.
Come for the joy of it!
 Bingo
Every Monday, members can enjoy "Afternoon Bingo" at 1:30
in the Carr Lounge. "Super Bingo" and "Evening Bingo"
are offered every Thursday evening.
Book Club
Join our Program Director and other members to enjoy and discuss a
current book in our Book Club meetings.
Bowling (Table Top)
League bowling twice each month in the Carr Lounge. Teams enjoy refreshments
and compete for prizes to be awarded at the Bowling Banquet.
Ceramics
The Ceramics Room has green ware, paint and glazes and kilns available
for preparation of gift items on Tuesday and Thursday mornings and Thursday
nights.
Computer Center
Our Computer Center offers FREE use of our computers and Internet connection,
as well as FREE instruction by appointment. Learn to email your family
and friends!
Craft Workshops
These workshops are held two or three times a year to prepare for sale
in our corner Store or at the Holiday Fair and Strawberry Festival.
The workshops include simple instructions by our experts and provide
another opportunity for you to meet others who share your interests.
Creative Writing
This class shares stories and poems. We publish their work in our monthly
newsletter.
Exercise
A low impact fitness program, "Forever Fit," with trained
instructor is offered each Tuesday and Thursday morning, in cooperation
with Lakewood Hospital.
Movies
Barton Community Center offers video movies on our BIG SCREEN in the
Faulhaber Auditorium several times each month. Popular movies, as well
as film classics, are offered.
Pool Room
Our Pool Room has a regulation sized pool table. Members are welcome
to play at will.
Shopping Trips
Barton Community Center provides a bus trip to area shopping malls.
For $3.00, members are picked up at Barton Community Center at approximately
9:30 a.m. and are returned in the afternoon around 2:30. Members must
sign up for this most popular trip. Seats are limited.
Summer Strawberry Festival
Held each year in June, this festival presents games, booths, raffles,
crafts, bake sale, homemade candy, strawberry desserts, snack bar, antiques,
entertainment and a good time!
Lakewood 4th of July Parade
All members are invited to join the Barton Community Center contingent
of Lakewood's 4th of July Parade.
Holiday Fair
This is one of the most joyous, fun events of the year, held in November.
Barton Community Center is transformed into a Christmas atmosphere with
booths offering homemade candy, bake sale, Santa photos, games and prizes,
craft booths, gift items, novelties, ceramics, woodcraft pieces, handsewns,
knit and crochet items, stuffed animals, books, greeting cards, Christmas
decorations and arrangements, jewelry, antiques, resale treasures and
snack bar. This is one of the biggest events of the year.
Barton Community Center Christmas Party
All members are invited to attend a special, FREE Christmas Concert
presented by the Barton Community Center Singers, followed by refreshments
in the lounge.
Flea Markets
Our members and the public are invited to reserve a table and sell
their wares. Table rental details are announced in The Breeze
prior to the sale (offered twice a year).
Volunteer Recognition Programs
Barton Community Center recognizes its volunteers during May at special
"Honors" and "Recognition" Programs. Volunteer hours
are recorded throughout the year in all areas, and these special programs
honor special volunteers and their contributions!
Barton Community Center Sweetheart
Members are invited to nominate a super-volunteer as our Barton Community
Center Sweetheart!
