MEET THE AUTHOR: FALLING OUT AND BELONGING: A Foot-Soldier's Life By S. Joseph Krause
This gritty WWII novel details the stressful day-to-day experiences of six combat infantrymen as they go on attack after attack, enduring the unendurable. Shared loyalty and a jaundiced attitude towards the Army keep them going. Amid the constant fear there is comradeship and an unspoken sense of belonging. Despite the culture of caring, articulated by their chaplain, however, some fall out, unable to take it anymore. During World War II, the author served with the 4th Infantry Division during two of its bitterest campaigns. Thanks to the G.I. Bill of Rights, he earned a masters degree from Yale, a Ph.D. from Columbia University and Fulbright Professorships at the Universities of Copenhagen and Tübingen. This program is co-sponsored by the Columbia University Club of Cleveland.

LAKEWOOD PUBLIC CINEMA: THE PRINCESS BRIDE (1987)
Directed by Rob Reiner and rated PG. Even people who do not like fairy tales have a favorite character in this smart, funny fantasy. Ours is Inigo Montoya, the swordsman who fights the six-fingered man, rescues a beautiful princess and a dreaded pirate, and hangs out with Andre the Giant and he's not even the main character! True love has never been a snap.
