  1. Must have at least 30 feet from the back of the deck to the rear property line.
  2. The deck will not have a roof.
  3. The height of the deck shall not exceed the height of the 1st interior house floor.
  4. The deck shall be constructed in the rear yard and not extend past the existing house foundation wall into the side yard.
  5. Any deviation from the above may require a zoning variance
I want to build a deck larger than 300 Square Feet, how do I know if I will need to seek a variance? Supply a plot plan showing:
  1. Show the length and width of your property. (The length of your property is from the rear yard property line to the inside edge of the public sidewalk)
  2. Details / size of house showing the size of any porches/protrusions
  3. Show where the deck will be placed and the size / square footage of the deck

  6. Railings for deck & steps (if over 24 inches high)
  7. Spindles for railings (maximum spindle spacing is 5 inches on center
  8. Lattice
  9. Stairs showing riser & tread dimensions
