The Baha'i Faith
The Baha'i faith is committed to a universal community of all peoples, the unity of all religions, and world-wide peace. Its founder, Bahaullah (Glory of God) said, "The religion of God is for the sake of love and union; make it not the cause of enmity and conflict." To his followers, Bahaullah is the "return" of all previous prophets and religious leaders. In the Baha'i tradition, there is no ritual or clergy; each seeker may act upon truth and the Spirit without assistance. The chief purpose of the Baha'i faith is to unite the world in one religion and one social order. Members believe in the essential harmony of science and religion, recognition of the divine foundations of all religions, universal compulsory education, equality of all men and women, spiritual solutions of economic problems, and the recognition of the essential unity of humanity. Baha'i calls for monogomy, obedience of one's government, prayer, and fasting.
