Frequently Asked Questions (faq)

1. Why aren't there classes offered this spring or summer?

Look for computer classes to return upon the completion of the new Main Library. In the meantime, visit http://www.lkwdpl.org/classes for lesson plans and other online resources that you can use to teach yourself almost any aspect of computing.

2. When classes resume, how do I sign up for them?

Reservations for all of the classes begin on the first of each month.  To register, please call 226-8275, Ext. 127  (please indicate what individual classes you are interested in attending). Contact Kathy Cole with the Office on Aging at (216) 521-1515 to sign up for Basic Computers for Seniors.

Classes are repeated each month.

3. Do you have to take all the classes in sequence?

No, but someone with little or no experience using the Internet would benefit from taking our "Internet Basics" class first. However, if you are already experienced and only want to take the "Searching the Web" or "Word Workshop" classes,  you are allowed to register for those.

4. How much do the classes cost?

FREE OF CHARGE !!! We recommend you bring disks to save your work if you are taking a word processing class.
3.5" Floppy Disks can be purchased at Drugmart, Radio Shack (Across the street) or any store that sells office or computer supplies.

5. Are there any prerequisites for the classes?

No, but we ask that all students come to class with a working knowledge of the mouse. If you need help, reserve an hour in the Learning Lab and ask the staff to set you up on our Mouse Training Program. It's fun, easy and essential to becoming computer literate.
