Collection Recommendations

Children's video goes far beyond Disney and "Barney" tapes, and the collection at Lakewood Public Library has much to offer. If, like many parents, you're trying to avoid the onslaught of commercial broadcast television -- and you've seen every "Arthur" episode ever made at least five times -- you know that even PBS isn't going to keep your child entertained forever. Happily, low-cost alternatives exist, and your local public library can probably help. Laura, our original editor, says, "We're regular borrowers, and I'm willing to claim that I've seen almost every animated tape that the library owns." 

Books, CD-ROM software, and music tapes and CDs are also apt subjects for recommendations and reviews.  Help your library serve you better -- let us know what's good and what isn't, and help other parents in the community wade through those shelves full of media.
