CONGRATULATIONS! Students in Ms. Bluemel’s 2/3 Discovery Class have been selected by the staff at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History to be one of ten classrooms in Northeast Ohio to participate in Extreme Project Astro. As part of the project we will receive many benefits including books, posters, field trips, a CosmOdyssey visit, and a partnership with a local astronomer. Our class has been “adopted” by astronomer Joe DeRocher, the Director of the Shafran Planetarium at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History. Mr. DeRocher will meet with our class once a month throughout the school year for either classroom lessons or observatory visits. It is quite an honor to be selected for this program. It was developed for fourth through ninth grade students, but the museum staff was so impressed by the science work our class has been doing they decided to include our second and third graders. We are really looking forward to a year of EXTREME learning. ASP Project Astro - national program of educator-astronomer partnerships. |
