PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE - October 2007
As we move into our second full month, I’d like to emphasize that the procedures
We have in place before and after school, as well as during the school day, support our teaching and learning environment and keep our school safe and secure. We appreciate your cooperation, as well as your assistance in talking to your children about school rules and routines.
As a Harrison learning community, we continue to work at being RESPONSIBLE, RESPECTFUL, AND RESOURCEFUL. We are confident that each and every person can make positive growth this school year academically, through careful planning, staff teamwork, and community partnership.
October is a busy month at school. We hope you will participate in PTA and our man other school activities. We welcome your involvement!
Please read this month’s Project Wisdom Messages:
Every day you make choices. How am I going to treat my classmates? How hard will I work in class? Each choice you make comes with consequences, whether good or bad. Your choices make for a good day, or a bad day, a good grade or a bad grade, a good life or a life filled with trouble. Wise people try to make decisions that bring good consequences like being respectful to others and then earning their respect. Unwise people make poor choices, such as being disrespectful to a teacher, and then get in trouble because of that unwise choice. Poor choices cause more trouble in our lives. Wise choices cause more happiness and help us to be the best we can be. Listen to these words by Olympic Champion, Mary Lou Retton:
“As simple as it sounds, we all must try to be the best person we can: by making the best choices.”
Take a moment t ask yourself this simple question: Will my choices lead me into trouble or help me be the best person I can be?
With something to think about …. Make it a great day, or not. The choice is yours.
– Phillis Muth
Now that the school year is well underway, we would like our students to show responsibility walking to their classrooms independently in the morning. We are asking that parents say their goodbyes at the front door. Remember if you want to see your student's teacher please mske an appointment.
FOR SAFETY AND SECURITY PURPOSES ALL VISITORS TO THE BUILDING MUST SIGN IN AND RECEIVE A PASS IN THE OFFICE. |
DISTRICT MESSAGE:
Phase I - New Buildings Opened On Time & On Budget!
Phase II - Work Underway
The floors are gleaming, new classrooms are filled with new desks, new technology, and in August students, staff members, parents and the community shared in the excitement of opening four brand new buildings. “We kept our promise to the community to open our four new school buildings on time and on budget,” said Treasurer Rick Berdine.
“Our new buildings will provide teachers and students with the opportunities for 21st century learning!” said Board of Education President Linda Beebe.
Work has already begun on Phase II which will totally renovate Emerson and Horace Mann Middle Schools into state–of-the-art elementary schools, and a portion of Lakewood High School. The same careful management and supervision that worked so well in Phase I will also be utilized in Phase II. We will continue to keep you up to date with the progress!
