Attendance Procedure

It is the responsibility of parents/guardians to notify the school of a child’s absence and the reason for the absence.  If a child is absent or tardy parents / guardians should call the attendance number (529-4305) by 9:00 am that day or the evening before. The attendance answering machine is on 24 hours, seven days a week. If a child is staying home for the afternoon only, the call to the same number should be made

Attendance is taken in each classroom at the beginning of each school day, after gym or music class, and again after lunch. After the 9:00 a.m. tardy bell, a student must report to the office to receive an admission slip to the classroom. The student will give this pink slip to his/her teacher upon entering the classroom.

If a student does not report to school has not been notified, the office will call the parents/guardians of the student between 9:00am – 10:30am immediately after lunch for an afternoon absence.

Once a student returns to school, he/she must immediately make arrangements with the teacher to make up missed work. Parents requesting work during a child’s absence may contact the teacher directly

The Board of Education does not excuse student from school for non-emergency trips out of the district. However, if a parent requests, a teacher will make a general list of assignments for the student to complete while absent, provided the school is notified at least one week in advance of the trip. It is expected that these assignments will be turned in to the teacher on the day that  the student  returns to school.

Early Dismissal

If a child must be dismissed before the 3:05 dismissal, a note from a parent /guardian is to be sent to the office. If time does not permit a note, then a phone call should be made before the student is picked up. Adults must come to the office to sign out students for early dismissal. Those adults, no familiar to office staff, may be asked to show a picture I.D. It is recommended that whenever possible, medical and dental appointments should be made after school hours.

Breakfast and Lunch

This year, in addition to the lunch program, Lincoln is participating in the federal breakfast program. Breakfast is served from 8:30am to 8:45am in the school cafeteria. Students must complete eating their breakfast by 8:50a.m. and then go directly to their classrooms. School breakfast will not be an acceptable excuse for tardiness to class. Menus for both breakfast and lunch will be sent home monthly in the Chalk Talk.

Application forms for free and reduced meals were sent home the first day of school. It is important to return these completed forms as soon as possible so they can be processed for this school year. Students who were on free or reduced lunch last year in any Lakewood school may continue until Sept. 15th. After that date, this year’s categories will go into effect. Any student who has not been approved for free or reduced meals, will have to pay full price after September 15th until Lincoln receives notice of this years status.

Cost of Breakfast - Free - Reduced Price; $.30 – Full Price: $1.00
Cost of Lunch: Free - Reduced: $.40 - Full Price: $1.50
Milk Only: $.35
Ala Carte Pizza: $ 2.00 – does not include milk

Pre-pay: Parents may Pre-pay for meals by sending the money with their students in a sealed envelope marked with the child’s name, grade and “pre-pay Lunch.”

Parents may also take the money directly to Mrs. McElwain in the school cafeteria. We ask that parents stop by in the morning to pre-pay since lunchtime is a very busy time. All pre-pay meals must be paid in cash.
