West Shore Career - Technical Education District

Course Descriptions

Explore the Career of Your Choice
At West Shore, you will explore high-tech, hands-on learning. You will gain the necessary knowledge and skills to enter the workforce, military, or higher education. You will be ready to face a high-tech computer-oriented world. Through these courses, you will be taught by a staff that makes the student their number one concern.
Explore a Challenge

West Shore will challenge you to learn the importance of problem solving, teamwork, reliability, and maturity. These qualities and more will help you succeed in the work force. 96% of West Shore graduates are gainfully employed. In addition to employment, 87% of West Shore graduates have related work experience and continue their education. Nationally, 50% of those who enter college never finish; and 25% leave or fail during their first year. Regardless of whether you attend college or enter the work force, a vocational skill will prepare you for a good job.

Explore Financial Success

Annually more than 96% of West Shore program completers are placed in the work force. Our free job placement service is used by many local businesses as a human resource center for skilled employees. You will find that higher skills mean higher wages. Ohio Vocational graduates earn higher incomes than others in the same age group with the same years of schooling.

Explore Early Placement

This option is made available to qualifying seniors. Starting in January, students may choose to seek employment in place of classroom instruction. Businesses interview, select, and employ students to assist with their daily operations. The students' work experience is monitored by the vocational teacher and students receive a grade for their performance on the job.

Explore New Friends

At West Shore, you will have the opportunity to make new friends from four area high schools: Bay Village, Lakewood, Rocky River, and Westlake. You will receive a diploma from your home school and are encouraged to participate in your school's activities. A great way to gain leadership skills is through your Career and Technical Organizations: FHA/HERO, Skills USA, Futue Educators of America and Business Professionals of America. Membership in the organizations will enable you to participate in local, regional, state, and national competitions
