CAREER
PASSPORT
Seniors who successfully complete and meet
the requirements specified for credentialing in their program
of study are
eligible to receive a Career Passport. This document includes
a resume, certificate of completion, appropriate industry
credentials, a department endorsement and Ohio Career-Technical
Competency Assessment results. The Career Passport is individualized
for each student. It provides a very comprehensive summary
of student work in their Career-Technical Education program.
INDIVIDUAL
CAREER PLAN (ICP)
Each Student in the West Shore Career-Technical Education District
is required to prepare an Individual Career Plan (ICP). The
folder is started in the 7th grade. The folder is reviewed
yearly with additions of career assessments, writing samples,
a resume, references, and college and career research activities.
The purpose of this document is to teach the career development
process regardless of student’s career aspirations. Many
of the schools within the West Shore District are adopting
an electronic form of the ICP. The electronic version allows
for more accessibility by both students and parents and use
beyond high school.
INTEGRATED
TECHNICAL AND ACADEMIC COMPETENCIES (ITAC’S)
Each student in a skill-training program is given a State mandated web-based
ITAC assessment upon completion of their program of studies. Each item in the
ITAC assessment is correlated to those essential competencies representing
employment requirements in a specific field. Every program completer will have
the competencies they have successful mastered as determined by the ITAC assessment
documented in their Career Passport.
