HOW DO YOU DECIDE WHAT COURSES TO OFFER?

Each program area has an advisory committee made up of community members and businesses. New ideas for classes start there. Demographic data from the Department of Labor is used to project areas of future employment growth. Once a course is proposed, it is then presented to the State Department of Education, Division of Career-Technical Education, for State approval. Then the proposal goes to the West Shore Career-Technical Education District Superintendent’s Committee. After discussion, the Superintendents give their approval for the course. Once approved, the course is listed in the course catalog for student scheduling.
