The
responsibility of educating the children is two-fold:
1.
Primary – the responsibility of the education of our children
belongs to the parents
2. Secondary – the responsibility of enhancing the education of the
children belongs to the school.
Although this responsibility is shared with school and faculty, parental
responsibility remains the first priority.
The greatest
single factor in building a child’s intellectual, moral, and
spiritual attitudes is the example that is provided by you in the
home. The role that you play in the school as a parent/guardian is
crucial in following and supporting the policies and programs of
our school.
Being
your child’s prime educators, parents need to strive to set
the following:
- Place
primary value upon the place of God in the life of the child.
- Regular
attendance at Sunday Mass with the family, is the best way to achieve
this.
- Build
religious and family celebrations into your family life.
- Provide
a productive area where homework can be completed and monitor their
progress.
- Insisting
that your child(ren) obey all regulations and principals of good
behavior.
- Having
your child(ren) arrive on time for school.
(Students reporting to school after 8:30 AM are considered tardy. Students
must stop in at the office
prior to admitting them to class. Repeated tardy days will result in notification
from the principal)
- Paying
all fees (tuition, lunch, milk, etc.) on time.
- Avoid
criticism of teachers and school policy in front of children.
- Be
proactive in attempting to make changes.
- Participate
in volunteering time to fulfill the service hours needs.
- Participate
in fundraising, essential in keeping our tuition down.
It is
the key to moral development, good conduct, orderliness, and respect
of other people. Parent/guardians must accept the responsibility
for helping their children develop self-control.
COOPERATE
WITH AND SUPPORT THE FACULTY AND OTHER SCHOOL PERSONNEL BY OBSERVING
THE POLICIES AND REQUESTS STATED IN THIS HANDBOOK. IF THE OPINION
OF THE FACULTY, PARENT OR STUDENT’S BEHAVIOR SERIOUSLY INTERFERES
WITH SS. CYRIL & METHODIUS SCHOOL AND PARISH, THE SCHOOL WILL
EXERCISE THE RIGHT TO DISMISS THE FAMILY.
