This page reviews some common Internet expressions we'll be using in the pages ahead.

E-Mail: The most popular thing to do on the Internet. It allows one to write letters much like in word processing, then send them to one or many persons using their e-mail addresses. It uses the Internet to tranfer the files at the speed of light.

FTP - File Transfer Protocol. this is is both a verb and a noun like the word "file" itself. As a verb, it means the transfer of information. To FTP a file to a site is to digitally tranfer it. An FTP site, is a place on the Internet where digital information is stored.

HTML - Hypertext Transfer Markup Language; the special computer language used to make pages for the WWW.

HTTP - Hypertext transfer Protocol; Indicates that a site uses HTML language, and also indicates it is a site on the World Wide Web, so if you go to it, you'll see pictures and be able to hear sounds.
