  POLITICAL IDENTITIES DISCUSSION SERIES

Introductory Handout

Summary of last meeting/Discussion outline

Add to list of aspects or dimensions:

Foreign policy (incl. war on terrorism)

                        multilateralist vs. unilateralist

                        absolutist/aggressive/confrontational vs.relativist/negotiational

                        free trade vs. protectionist

Cluster of characteristics (syndrome) defined out of discussion of G.W. Bush:

Wealthy people are wealthy people because they deserve to be.  They are

            blessed, or spiritually superior.

(possible derives –- perhaps subconsciously – from Calvinist doctrine

that wealth is a sign of God’s favor)

Conversely, the poor are not blessed – they are inferior.

However, it is one’s Christian obligation to aid the poor.

Who has suggestions for addition to the lists?
