get my PIN? (Do I even have a PIN?)
Every Library card comes with a personal identification number, or PIN, that can be used to renew books, place holds and check the status of materials online. It can also be used for accessing time on a public computer in the Technology Center. Patrons who have forgotten or misplaced their PIN can retrieve it in person at any desk in the Library by presenting a valid and undamaged photo ID. PINs cannot be given out over the phone.
get online at the Library?
You can reserve computer time to go online, use office software or consult a database at both the Main Library and the Madison Branch. Sign in with your Lakewood Public Library card and your PIN. Printers are provided. Patrons are limited to printing to twenty pages per day. Wireless Internet access is provided free of charge at both buildings for patrons who have the required hardware and software needed for this service.
place a Hold on materials?
Reserves may be placed on any circulating item. Patrons will be notified by mail, text message or e-mail when their reserves become available. Requests may be placed in person, by phone, or on our Web Catalog. Reserved material that becomes available will be held for 5 days. If an item is not part of our collection, we will try to obtain it for you.
