Actress: Stephanie Tolliver


 

Stephanie Tolliver graduated with a degree in English from Baldwin-Wallace College. Stephanie is a multi-talented individual. She has performed as an actor with Berea Summer Theater, Cain Park and Karamu. 

Her community theater presentations have been with The Jewish Community Center's Fairytale Theater and The East Cleveland Community Theater, in which she played the lead in "Carmen Jones".

While working at the East Cleveland Community Theater, she choreographed several musicals. She has also taught dance at The Cleveland Music Settlement School and at Cuyahoga Community College.

Stephanie has taught dance in the Cleveland Public Schools through their Arts Outreach programs. She is a classically trained vocalist who performs with The University Circle Chorale. Stephanie currently has her own radio program called "Community Dialogue" on WERE - 1100 AM, in Cleveland. She is a new member and educator/presenter with Women In History.

  • Marian Anderson - First African American to sing leading role with Metropolitan Opera, U.N. delegate
  • Ida B. Wells Barnett - African American educator, journalist, leader of anti-lynching campaign, founder of the NAACP
  • Charlotte Forten Grimke - African American writer from The Harlem Group, influenced Toni Morrison and Alice Walker
  • Sisseretta Jones - African American international vocal prima donna of late 19th century, favorite of George Bernard Shaw and several presidents
