WARD DAVENNY

Ward Davenny, a graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Music, where he studied with Beryl Rubinstein and Arthur Loesser, returned to the Institute in 1954 as its director. The intervening years held a Master of Music degree from Yale University, a year of study in Rome, a period on the Yale School of Music faculty, three years of army service in the Signal Corps and the Army Security Agency; and eight years as Director of the Hartford, Connecticut, School of Music, including a full schedules piano recitalist and lecturer, as well. Since coming back to Cleveland, he has continued to give solo recitals and has also joined Mr. Loesser in giving many two-piano concerts. During their well-received coast to coast and European tours. His wife, Ena Nelson Davenny, is also a teacher and pianist; they have three children.
