FREDERICK KOCH

Frederick Koch, pianist, is Musical Director and founder of West Shore Concerts. He is also Director of the studio in Rocky River which has a faculty in piano, voice, theory, and violin. Composers Press of New York just recently published his Sonatina, 1950 for piano. Frederick Koch has been a student of Leonard Shure in piano since the summer of 1949. His early study began with his mother and after high school he received his Bachelor of Music degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music in piano with the late Beryl Rubinstein. He also studied there with Lawrence Stevens and Arthur Loesser. He received his Master's Degree from Western Reserve University where he studied composition with Arthur Shepherd. Mr. Koch has made two appearances on this series and has been heard on radio and in recital in Cleveland and northeastern Ohio. Other compositions of his include: Americana Suite for two pianos; Five Children's Sketches (to be released in 1954); songs. and smaller pieces for violin, flute, and piano.
